Kidepo is located in the rocky valleys of the semi-dry Karamoja province in the far north along Uganda’s border with Sothern Sudan is Uganda’s second largest yet remotest National park. It is also the least visited park but it boosts of great beauty and wildlife diversity. It has about 475 bird species and a large number of animals.

Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park

Approximate Travel Time: 9 Hours.

 

After your early Breakfast, you will begin on the journey to Kidepo National Park going through Soroti, Kotido and Amuria all the way to the northeast where Uganda, Kenya and South Sudan share borders.

On arrival you will check into your lodging for dinner a peaceful night’s rest.

 

Accommodation options include

Basic: Apoka Rest Camp, National Park Bandas at Apoka

Mid-range: Apoka Rest Camp, or Nga’moru Wilderness Camp

Luxury: Apoka Lodge

 

Day 2: Game Drive and Community Walk:

After breakfast, you will visit the beautiful Kanangorok hot spring.

You will chance upon a number of animals and birds, most notably the Ostrich.

Thereafter, you will enjoy a Game Drive through the Narus-Valley to see elephants, Giraffes, several Buffaloes, Zebras, and if fortunate, some Cheetahs, Lions, and Leopards, in addition to a numerous Birds.

You will make several stops along the way to enable you take photos and see birds as well as animals during this game drive.

After your lunch, you’ll rest a bit and resume adventure in the evening starting with having a cultural tour to meet the local Karamajong people. You will have personal interactions with them and see them go about their routine activities and their unique cultural practices. It is a very amazing cultural experience.

After the cultural tour, you will return to your lodging for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Nature Walk, Game Drive

Following an early breakfast, you will set off for a nature walk during which you will see various fauna and flora in the game park. You will then briefly return to your lodging for a power nap and later have lunch.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy another game drive across the beautiful terrain comprised of wide savannah, hills, dry river beds and small forests.

You will later return for dinner and spend the night at your lodging.

Day 4: head back to Kampala

On day four, after having your breakfast, you will enjoy the beautiful scenery as you drive back to Kampala.
